about the artist
I am a figurative painter based in London and exhibiting internationally.
My interests are: Human Figure and Still Life, Portraiture and Decorative Composition. I paint in oil.
My background as an artist is not at all traditional. Born in Russia, I received an architectural education and spent a number of years designing, teaching and researching architecture in Moscow, Amsterdam and London. With no formal art school training, at the age of twenty-eight, I began to paint in whatever free time was available.
My artistic career has been launched in 1992 after a successful exhibition of graphic works in Amsterdam, where I worked as an architect for Alberts & Van Huut, one of the leading Organic Style design firms in Europe. That first public exposure led to the invitations from three more galleries to show my work. Since then I exhibit regularly throughout Europe, and in the last fifteen years participated in more than 100 exhibitions worldwide.
In London I have shown with several leading galleries including Roy Miles, Albermarle, The Mall Galleries, Westminster Gallery, West-Eleven, Llewellyn Alexander, Royal College of Art, the BOC Covent Garden Festival and Olympia.
In 2000 my first pictures had been sold at the auctions-on-line on the Sothebys.com and included into the BritArt Directory, 2001.
In 2004 my painting “Masquerade” has been chosen among thousands of images to represent the Annual Chelsea Art Fair and has been widely featured in the national press, including The Times, The World of Interiors, The London Guide,
This Is London, The Antique Trade Gazette, and The Sunday Times.
Presented by Britart.com, several pictures had been shown at the prestigious
Classic FM Festival aux Quat'Saisons, where they accompanied
the performances of some of the most creative classical musicians of our time:
Emma Johnson, the Sorrel Quartet and Julian Lloyd Webber.
In 2005 a British Fine Art Publisher has produced a Portfolio of Limited Edition Signed Prints featuring 12 images based on my original paintings (Post Impressions, Aliasart).
A major project has just been completed for the P&O Company, where the designers of the new UK's biggest luxury cruise ship Ventura commissioned me to create more than thirty large paintings and murals. Dame Helen Mirren officially opened it in April 2008.
